Oppose the Fairness Doctrine!

Please oppose the Fairness Doctrine as such a measure infringes upon "freedom of speech". This legislation supposedly creates a balance of information for radio listeners. History of the "Fairness Doctrine" proves otherwise. When this doctrine was in effect, radio hosts and guests were limited to only "general talk" and advice. Any controversial topic was off-limits due to the Doctrines' restraints. John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon used this legislation to squelch any political opposition.

Furthermore, talk radio is a small source of news compared to other venues. Americans enjoy a wide array of news and information mediums; not just talk radio.

Liberal tilted information dominates: broadcast television, cable television, newspapers, and news magazines. Cable and broadcast television are the main source of information U.S. residents rely upon.

There is nothing fair about the Fairness Doctrine. This doctrine's history should serve as an example. Please oppose all attempts to pass the detrimental, unconstitutional Fairness Doctrine.

Rep. Mike Pence (R-Ind.) proposed The Broadcaster Freedom Act (HR 2905). Please support this bill for a genuinely "fair" effort to preserve freedom of speech for all radio broadcasters.
